I was traveling back home from a short outing, and the wife was following me in our Jimmy. About 1/3 of the way home, she said that my brake lights were not working.

Traffic was light, so we came on home. Simultaneous failure of both lights indicates to me that I have a fuse failure or perhaps a switch failure. The turn signals and taillights work. I have looked at the Ford fuse panel layout, but I can't figure out which of the fuses supplies the brake lights.

Any help would be appreciated.

Larry, The best way to test when you don't know which fuse it is is to use a test light and touch both sides of the fuse if bad it will not light, Best way I think with out removing the fuse's.
Hope this gives you some help!

Earl

The brake light problem has been fixed. The brake lights are powered from a fuse panel underneath the dash, and this panel, in turn, is powered from a fuse panel under the "hood" Corrosion had build up on this panel, and dropping voltage from it normal value down to less than 8 volts.
