My Sunvoyager did not come with a spare tire and wheel. The tires are 22.5 I have ran into a good buy on a wheel and tire but cannot figure out where to haul it. I looked at the carrier that goes on the back of the motor home but boy are they expensive. I figure it would cost $500.00 or more , then the cost of the spare wheel and tire on top of that. I had a spare on my other motor home and never did use it. So I am wondering if is is that important. I always call road service and they have so far always been able to provide a tire for me. What do others think on this subject. My motor home is a 2004 Gulf Stream Sunvoyager triple slide out, with atarium.

I would not try to haul aroud a spare for these reasons: I have weighed my rig and am not overloaded. I keep the right air pressure in all tires. I keep the sun off the tires and keep them clean. I do not drive over 65 (most of the time). If I did carry a spare I think that by the time I needed one (Present tires should be replaced) the spare tire would be as old and in worse shape than those on the road. The flexing of the sidewalls is waht will help keeep a tire in good condition. If I puncture a tire I could not change it myself and so I have just opted to have and use roadside assistance bring me a tire of brand and size I neeed.

My answer would also be 'no,' but for a different reason. To actually change a tire requires special equipment and skills that you don't want to mess with.

Remember your unit weighs in at SEVERAL TONS, not a few hundered pounds sitting on each wheel.

I also do not carry a spare for the same reasons that the others gave.
