A couple of months ago I blew a left rear tire on my Prairie Schooner on I-75 in Georgia. I discovered later that when Gulf
Stream put the tires on my unit they put three 245/75/16s on and one 245/85/16. The spare was a 245/75/16. You cannot put different height tires on a 5th Wheel. I am holding tjhe 245/85/16 tires as a spare and intend to take it to the "Back Home in Indiana" Rally next week and request they replace the wrong size tire.

Also, my Prairie Schooner weighs abour 14,800 pounds fully loaded. I just had a guy in a campground tell me my tires were insufficient for the weight of my 5th Wheel because I am running 65 psi in each tire and he says with my weight I should have a Load Level "G" that requires 110 psi.

Does anyone out there know if I am running dangerously inadequate tires (purt on nthe unit by Gulf Stream)? The guy suggested I get some Goodyear G167 tires that require 110 psi. Can anyone tell me anything about a Goodyear G167 tire?

I would appreciate any advice on this.

Thanks,

Ray James

Sounds like if you have the LT245/75R16 Load Range D tires, then they are not adequate (or marginally adequate at best) according to this Goodyear inflation table --

14,500 loaded and that is on the tires--- no way. For instance that gets you about a 2500 lb pin weight then you are at 17K lbs total. If you have a 7K lb truck then your 24K and likely beyound CGWR on your truck as well.

I would put your rear wheels when loaded on a CAT scale and get that reading. E-Tires are 80 PSI and I think they are 3000 lbs each or 12K for the 4. G-rating might not be out of the question.

I put on Good Year Wrangler HDs. 245/75/R16, Load Range E. I feel a lot safer now.
