Fresh Water Holding Tank Capcity
We just purchased a used 2003 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager. We've taken it out a few times and found that the we don't go but a day or two before we run out of Fresh Water after filling it Full before leaving for out trip.
The Manual says the coach has a 70 Gallon capacity. Our old coach had a 50 Gallon capacity and we could go a week without needing more water in a dry camp.
I've read all the posts on this topic and there are a few things I've learned.
1. Some owners have said that they lost water while traveling because the overflow seems to cause a siphon effect and hence leaks many gallons while traveling. This doesn't seem to be our issue because we can fill it at the campground and it still doesn't last us more than a day or two. Also, when refilling I expect it to take at least 10 to 20 minutes to fill but it takes less than 5. I know it's full because the water comes out of the overflow.
2. Another Gulf Stream owner has indicated that there was a problem with the pick-up sensor on his 2005 model. His dealer told him that he has a two tank system, one on top of the other and the pickup is in the top tank. The dealer relocated the pick-up in the bottom tank and his problem was solved. This doesn't seem to be our problem because after a day or two you can hear the pump pumping but no water is coming out. If it were the pick-up sensor location problem as explained by this owner, I would expect the meter to read empty although I could still get water until the the tank is empty regardless of what the meter (lights on stove hood) says.
I checked to make sure that there are no leaks.
Can anyone help me explain why I only get a days worth of water with a 70 gallon capcity?
