What is the switch in Kitchen

I have just picked up a new 2006 Sun Voyager 8351. There is an 120 volt style electrical switch inside to the left of the sink. During the dealer check out they did not know for sure what it does. They think it has something to do with the water filter. I don't think so after reading about the filter.

Anyone have know what this switch is for?

It probably controls the outlet for the 120 volt element for the water heater. Does it have a red light over the switch? If so that is what the switch is for.

I concur with the wizard. I have the same switch and it is for the electric element in the hot water heater. You enable the switch by turning on the small breaker/toggle switch on the hotwater heater (outside). When that switch is on then you are able to use the switch under the sink to turn on the electric element in the hotwater heater. Happy Camping.

Congratulations 50kw, on the '06 #8351. We are proud owners of the '05 model.

The switch IS for electric element in the hot water heater. Too bad the factory STILL hasn't chosen to identify this very important switch.

If turned on, nothing necessarily happens. You must go to the circuit breaker located behind the external removable hot water heater panel (drain, gas equipment) next to your entry door. Remove the small metallic clip in the breaker to prevent unintentional operation. WHY??? Because if you turn on the power to the element without water in the tank, they tell me the life of the element is maybe 5 seconds at the outside. Remember, during winterizing the tank is drained & bypassed to keep RV antifreeze out. Save the clip & replace it at the end of your season.

We used the electric portion to heat water last season & it works great. Just remember to NEVER allow the element to be energized without water in the tank.

Our walkaround avoided the subject as well. I asked about the switch but the service tech had no idea what it was for. WOW!

Many thanks for all the replys. It was the switch with the red light. I woke about 5 am this morning with the thought that the element was burned out due to no water in the tank. Thankfully the switch outside was off. What a load off my mind.

On to more learning tomorrow.

I finally found a GSC Forum. The switch that you are refering to,
at least on mine, is for the 12v overhead lites, and is a house battery diconnect.

The GS installers, in all their great wisdom, failed to protect the two large terminals inside the cabinet. Now picture a metal can, like Enddust, and the coach movement, ooppsss wonder what caused that fire ????.

So, electrical tape and a plastic cover solved the problem. I also e-mailed GS to their suggestion box.

Well, I'm glad I found the site, I hope that I can learn and contribute.
