Called, Emailed Parts trying to get a new fresh water tank. Gave them the VIN number and got a part number. Took it to the local dealer and they checked the number and ordered the tank. Three weeks later the dealer called and said the tank was in. You guessed it, wrong tank. Took the rig to the dealer and they measured the tank and sent them to Gulfstream Parts. Three weeks later the tank came in. It even was the right tank with all the fittings in it. Why do they want the VIN number when they have no idea what they put in the rig?

Actually, having just been at GS and having just enjoyed a factory tour, now is a poor time to do anything with GS. They are working with a skeleton crew, and are not producing any coaches save the special ordered ones.

I would imagine that having your VIN number is important, as any change in suppliers may equate a change in the components of the same GS models. With several of my coach changes, recalls, and warranty issues, the VIN provided the cut-off line between needing service or not.
