We have a (new to us) 2008 Gulf Stream Independence Ford F53 35' Class A. On a recent trip we arrived to find half the electrical outlets not working.

The breaker panel has one 20A breaker for all electrical outlets. We verified that it is working properly. Do you think it is right that all outlets connected to a single breaker?

Could there be additional breakers or fuses hidden elsewhere in the coach? If so, where have people found them? Why not just use more breakers?

Check your GFI it controls several plugs in

There probably is not a hidden breaker. My coach has 2 breakers for outlets. One is hand-labeled for road-side and the other as curb-side.

Check your 120volt breaker panel again to make sure you've accounted for all the circuits. The GFI suggestion is a very good one also.

The worst-case scenerio is a failed connection within one of the outlet boxes. Most of the outlets are surface-mount plastic boxes & standard duplex outlets. If you are reasonably good (or have a friend) at troubleshooting electrical problems, start at a dead outlet closest to the breaker box, examine the outlet itself, measure for voltage & look for a wire sliped out of the hole in the back of the outlet. GS wires using this quick & easy method rather than placing the wire around the side screw. Remember that if the white neutral is opened, voltage could still be present in the box. Voltage check both wires to the bare ground wire. If you are the slightest bit giddy about this process, its best to find someone to do it for you.

Is it ONLY outlets not working, or are other AC devices also not working? Are both air conditioners operable? Were you on shore power or generator power? How about the refrigerator? Microwave & TVs are plugged into outlets, but do they operate?

We experienced a similar problem two weeks ago on our class C. All of a sudden, the drivers side of the coach electrical is dead, but only when running on the generator. Front A/C, Microwave, ref, outlets on that side are dead. Other side works fine. When plugged into shore power, everything works. Any ideas?

O.k. Mine was stupid. Two circuits on the generator. One had tripped. Simply reset it and problem solved.....
