The Blue Ridge Parkway is a wonderful trip. The countryside is varied, from the relatively high mountains in North Carolina to the plateau in Virginia (Virginig Highlands). Vistas are awsome, and there are plenty of facilities along the way. It's an easy drive all of the way. I think there is one low clearance, on the Skyline Drive portion of the trip (Afton, VA to Front Royal). If I recall correctly, it's south of Luray/New Market Route 211, and is a tunnel with a roof of 12' 8".

I am jealous. I have driven the full length, from south to north, but it was several years ago. in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, not a motor home. My wife and I have driven sections in the Gulf Stream, but not the whole thing. It's on my list.
