How important is it to spray lube on the slide seals and does it make a mess when you pull them in thanks

I've been told by several people to use non-scented talcum powder to 'lube' the seals (Non-scented does not have any aromatic oils on them, which would otherwise eventually deteriorate the rubber seals). Non-scented may be tough to find, if so ask a pharmacist, they can usually get it.

Been using it on my HR for awhile now, seems to work just fine.

Thanks!

Gulf Stream recommends silicone spray to put sprayed on the slide out seals.

I have done this on our RV's with slides since 1994 and never had a problem. It does not make a mess when caution is used. Silicone spray drys and leaves a protective film behind on the seals.

It does not wash off like talcum powder would. I am not sure how talcum powder would protect from UV rays.
