I just took a short trip with supernova and noticed my temps hovering around that 200 mark?It would climb to about 205 then come done to 190ish then back up.I did notice there was a cross wind that was coming almost straight sideways so maybe this was causing it to run warmer?Seems hot to me what about you guys?

That temp range is just about normal, or at least what mine runs at. By, the way, the fan drive has failed on my VT365, and the fan runs all the time. Waiting for replacement parts. In the meantime, fuel mileage is down.

My fan drive failed once and it would stay on for 70 miles before shutting off. International replaced it and it still stays on longer sometimes. I wonder if there is something else that effects when it turns on off. Frustrating and loud. Any ideas.

The elctric cooling fan is controlled by a temperature switch. They are set to come on at ~ 210 and shut off ~ 190 degrees. Mine cycle on and off very frequently when it is hot outside. They are loud...

On the supernova with the 6.0liter diesel it is not an electric fan. It is a clutch drive fan that is fluid based and runs off the temperature it gets from the back side of the radiator. There is no switch or way to adjust this. When the clutch drive on the fan goes bad or out, like mine did, the only thing to do is replace it. This was done under warranty.

Schmittm I take it your engine was running cooler when fan stuck on??I just think they are running to warm at 205-210 ish I wonder if cooler stats are available??I posted one above by mistake.

My Nova fan runs to maintain the temperatures you mentioned. However, during the winter months, it hardly runs at all which kind of worries me that the engine is not getting hot enough for a diesel.

International folks have told me that those temperatures are ok to run for this engine so I don't get concerned with the 210.

I am still confused as to why it runs when you first start the coach. It would seem to me that it would stay off until the engine heated up and then turn on. Mine, since day one has always run until the engine gets to running temperature and then starts it's on and off between 210-190.

Mine was stuck on in the winter. We used our 6371 for 5 ski trips and the engine would run between 160 and 180 and the fan would never turn off. I would come down the mountain for 40 miles and it would finally turn off. There is no reason it should stay on. My fan comes on at start up and then after 5-7 miles it might shut off. Sometimes it takes longer. What International told me is that the fluid has to get to a certain temp before it will let the clutches go. This sounds like a stupid design. There has got to be a better way to do this or something else to convert this fan to. When that fan is running it sounds like an airplane, and I sound proofed the whole engine compartment, hood and under the coach.
I have my coach at International now for an injector that went out on our last trip. I will ask them again about the fan and options. If anyone else has any ideas please post.

There is an electric fan option. I haven't had it done, but have seen it on a couple of Nova's here in Colorado. They were done at the International center in Greely. Sorry, that's all I know but maybe you can google it.

Mine cycles on and of at on and off between 190 and above...

It's loud but it comes on properly and shuts off - hey crossing the desert to 'Lost Wages' Nevada and pulling strongly up that hill.. and then later shutting off on the flat parts when there was a chance to cool down....
