I have never changed the filter on the air dryer, so I decided to crawl under the coach to see how easy or hard it is to change both filters out. It so happens that I have the Haldex air dryer and I was shocked how big the air filter on the top of the air dryer is. I called Freightliner to see how much the filter was and they told me $158.00. The sales person for Freightliner told me that it actually is cheaper to buy the whole unit with the two filters on it for around $400.00.
Have any of you guys out there changed the air dryer filter and what was your experience. I have forty thousand miles on my coach now and I was starting to wonder wheather I should get it changed, even though the Freightliner person told me that if there is no water or oil pouring out, that it is probably still good.
