Sticky "Putty?"

I saw a type of "putty" that would not harden but provided a very secure/tight connection for anything it was attached to. It was used to hold a lamp to a table, It was so secure that the RV could be driven with no risk of the lamp moving. ...................yet the putty could be easily removed if desired.

I would love to know what this stuff is and how to get it. Can anyone help?

You can get it at most hobby shop some thing like Michael's we call it Earthquake putty or museums putty

My son uses it a lot...it is also "unfortunately" known as Poster Snot.
