Diesel Pusher
Cummins 275hp

Problem: When cold, engine starts and runs for a few seconds, then quits. Starting procedure, turn key till all green, then turn key to hit starter and engine starts right up. No problem here. But engine quits, after a few seconds. This problem started a few months ago. I have to wait for a couple of minutes then crank the engine a few times before it will start. Then is runs normally. No puddles under engine, so no leaks. Sounds like I have a air lock, but not sure. That is way I?m asking for help. All maintenance has been performed. Engine is a Cummins 275hp.

All new filters less then 8,000 miles on them.

Did you ever resolve this? Sounds like air getting trapped/sucked in the fuel line.

I agree with the other posts that it seems to be sucking air on a fuel line somewhere. Maybe an injector line.

Just replace both fuel filters and ever thing is working great. Didn't believe that the filters would cause that much problem specially since I only had 8000 miles on them. But I remember that I got some bad diesel and the problem started after this. So in the future will replace the filters more often. Say around 5000 miles or so. Cheap price for peace of mind. Wish to thank you all for your feed back.
