Hope someone out there can help me on this one. Last week had to use the generator to run the AC units. When ready to shut the Gen off it would not shut off. Tried both switches. Nothing. Had to go into the Gen department and pull the fuse to stop the unit. Next day started the gen with no problems again unit would not shut off when depressing the switch. Have any ideas on what to do?

A diesel will run as long as it has air and fuel. Shutting one down requires that you starve it of one or both. Most will have some type of kill switch that stops the fuel flow or stops the air. A fuel flow switch is most likely what you need to look for. It could be the electric supply line to the switch, the switch, or a badly adjusted cable. That switch should be located near the fuel pump at a location between the line in and the pump. Most diesel engines have a location where you can manually activate that switch if it is not working properly.

Finally got a chance to check out the gen today. It started and ran fine and shut down normally. Did this twice no problem today. Maybe I have a spook?
