Cat C7 Turbo

We have had 2 blown turbo's on our 2009 Crescendo C40k in 2 months... So far no reason found... Just bad parts... 17,000 miles total on the Cat... Any others with C7 turbo issues. Dickson

I have the 3126-E which is the same as the C-7 and I have 50K miles on it now with no issues at all with the turbo.
Sounds to me like you have a lubrication problem going to the turbo.

When making a long run, do you let it idle for awhile before you turn the engine off. This allows the turbo to cool down, because they get extremely hot.

Just read an article on the Caterpillar website where Caterpillar claims that the C-7 which derives from the 3126-E series is proving out to be a 450-500K miles before they are coming into Caterpillar shops for rebuilding.

That is good news to read since there are many who have coaches with those Caterpillar engines.
