This spam and lack of oversight by Admin/Moderator is the reason that I, as a fairly happy GS owner, very very very rarely use or visit this site.......

There have been many requests by users to monitor this more closely to no avail....Back to another site for me......Too bad because we GS owners could use this site.......

Too bad you are so sensitive about some spam that has gotten into this sight, but every time I have reported any spam that creeps in, I reported to the moderator or administrator and it has been handled. I personally think it is a poor excuse to leave the sight.

Ray...He is kind of right as I report spam all the time and still see it.

Click the link to view all his posts and all posts are nonsense but the signature has links and they can change. Reported, reported, reported and nothing.

I also report them to gsadminis all the time, and he used to remove them right away, but the last three have not been removed. Maybe the administrator is out of the country and has not edited his forum.

But still I felt that we Gulf Stream owners have to communicate with each other, and help each other. By threatening to go to another sight is not the way to do it. Patients is needed at times. It does wonders.

I have founded and run some very busy community forums on the web. I know how spam can ruin a site, even a small one like this, so it should is handled quickly. Sad to say this is not the case here. Every time I come here I find more. ;)

Which sites you may ask did I found or own? http://www.AVSForum.com (3 million unique visitors a month) , http://www.DBSTalk.com (500K unique visors a month), http://www.TiVoCommunity.com (600K unique visors a month), http://www.HTGuys.com (Pod cast), and http://www.IPTVConnection.com (New start up site.)

You may recall I was the one that helped here when the site was attacked and got it back on-line. At least I think it was this one. :) I offered to help out or even purchase the site, but their was no interest. And that's OK. But I did offer just in case.

GEEES...let me see...we get a free site...we can have direct contact with others about Gulfstreams....we can get free advice...we can get directions and assistance.
and a few spams getting in is surely no reason to take it on the site or the moderator. SELDOM do you see much spam in here..and they do get in....just look at your personal accounts....its get in there too.

I for one...am very happy with this site, and the valuable contacts I have made. AND believe the moderators have done a great job staying on top of things.

My thinking is..your loss if you can't realize the value of this, and this will HAPPEN....
how about the phone calls you get on yhour phone? guess you should change your phone companies everytime somebody sneaks in. Its a new world .......and just deal with it.

I think you missed the point. Why yes it is nice to talk to others etc on a like topic, the issue things like SPAM get in the way of that. As pointed out, it really has not been handled my the mods or admin/owner of the site. Thus it can give the impression of no longer really caring about it.

I think the original poster may have been over board in his words, but surely he has a point.

has a point..but they are providing their time at no charge..so we can't complain..do the best we can.
if they WERE paid...then we could complain..

See the ads? The site owner is paid. And if the members needed to pay for this site, well, their would not be many members. ;)

David and others are right, it is important to keep down the spam and at times my life gets the better of me and I don't get around to it as often as I should. If David, Ray, or someone else who is as frequent a contributor to the site wishes to take on moderator duties, PM me and I we can chat about that.

Sorry guys, this is not my #1 gig.

Also, does the site earn $. Well kinda. If only there were as many Gulf Stream owners as there are AV Equipment owners then maybe I could spend more time with it as the ad revenue would be more than the $20-$50 per quarter it currently earns...

Sorry if I have not lived up to my side of the deal as well as I probably should have.

Oh...I wouldn 't worry about it..we all do the best we can, and all have limited time.
it happens. I would love to help, but I am computer illiterate!!! Lucky I can turn it on....
we will survive, and I think in the long run, we all understand. Heh..its free. I have met some good friends
and people here. AND I know I can post here and get some responses that are directly related to
GULFSTREAM and our units. Thanx..not to worry...r

that is just plain stupid.................spam is ever present..do lets blame somebody eh?
we are all here together..we can deal with it..so go someplace else.fine.
I for one, appreciate all those here that share details. It has helped me greatly.
