I have a 2011 Gulf Stream Visa 19 ft cabin. I bought it new in 2010. The road clearance was too low so the dealer was going to install a lift kit. They discovered that the axle was bent and the tires were cupping after one summers use. Gulf Stream replaced the axle and tires and the trailer height was increased. This year when I was getting it serviced for summer, the RV place told me my tires were badly cupping and wouldn't last any distance of travel (2 years after axle and tires were replaced). I was told by my dealership that these axles couldn't be aligned. I took it to a place that aligns trailers and they told me the second axle was bent. They aligned it and I purchased new tires. They balanced these tires on the trailer and discovered the studs in the hubs were out of alignment and I could see the wheels bouncing as they turned the wheels. They had to replace the hubs. After almost $900 in repairs and tires I took off for holidays.

Consequently I am not impressed with the axles Gulf Stream has used on these trailers! My concern is that the axle may not hold the alignment and I could be in for more of the same problems.

We own a 2012 Visa 19 ERD.
Our unit went through all of the reported problems.

The axle is borderline for weight.
The tires are bias-ply....we replaced with radial.
Lippert axle was poorly built...We had ours bent to spec. by a local frame shop.
Aligned rather than another OEM failure.
Cannot put larger tires on without upgrading wheels and axle.
We installed factory lift kit at our cost.
Axle is bolted to frame flanges and not movable without slotting holes.

After long battle through our dealer Visa did reimburse us for new tires and the
cost of alignment.

Tire wear is now minimal, new riding height helps by not tearing off stabilizers.

We love our Visa for size and features but we always have thoughts of tire/wheel/axle
failure going down the road.

We probably will replace this unit when $$$ permit.

Hi,

I have a VISA 19RSD and clearance is too low. Its constantly scraping driveways and ramps. Would anyone know where / who I can get a lift kit from?

Thanks.
