The forum has been real quit lately. We are planning a trip for the holidays, first to Laughlin, Nev. for three days, then drive to Las Vegas for Christmas spending our time with our daughter and bringing in the new year. Then we will drive back to California on the seventh 2015.

Any of you Gulf Streamers going out for the holidays?

I had both knees replaced the end of Oct so we're stationary until the end of Jan. Then we plan to leave Tacoma heading south along the OR and CA coast.

Merry Christmas,

Dennis: I hope you recover fast from your knee replacements. My mother in law had both replaced a few years back and she really liked them. Some have pain in the recovery and some don't. She did not have much pain, but my sister had one done and she claims her one knee recovery was very painful. Hope yours is not painful so that you can get out there and enjoy that trip down the coast on Highway 101. It is a nice drive in the summer time, not sure in January, but I cut across just before I get to San Francisco to I-5 to avoid that heavy traffic of the San Francisco area.

Knees are doing pretty well. Still need a little more flex ability in the right one but gained 10 deg last week. Need another 13 or so. We'll be on 101 in Feb. probably a week or so in OR state parks. They have so nice parks right on the coast and not crowded that time of year. Then friends near Chico and on to San Louis Obispo so we'll be on I-5 for awhile. From there, who knows.

Dennis, not sure if you belong to Thousand Trails, but they have like five locations in Oregon alone right next to I-101. They are real nice. Whalers Rest and Pacific City you can drive right up to the beach. Then they have another up at Florence, Oregon. OH! I almost forgot the one further north called Seaside, real nice.

Some of those TT resorts allow even if you are not a member I believe not sure. And some of those are also owned by Leisure Time, and NACO.

Don't belong to Thousand Trails but as a DV I get free camping in OR state campgrounds. The state has some really nice places so we try to take advantage. When outside WA and OR, we use Elks Lodges and military campgrounds. Was counting last night and we've stayed at 32 Elks Lodges in the last two years. San Luis Obispo has both options.
