The Hobbs meter (that little meter on the lower left dash that keeps track of generator hours) in my '04 Sunvoyager is slowly driving me crazy. When I'm running the generator, every 6 seconds or so, one of the numbers turns over with a loud "click". It's like Chinese water torture after listening to it for any length of time. Is there a good (silent) digital meter that I could replace it with? Does this annoy anyone else?

This has been posted for quite a while so I'll add my 2 cents:

My 2007 has this same mechanical hour meter at the driver's station and I admit it is loud. There is another digital meter in the hallway control panel with the level meters and charge indicator, etc, with a second gen start switch and that hour meter makes no noise at all when the reading increments.

I would think that cutting a thick foam cover to fit over the front meter when the generator is in use might attenuate the noise a bit if you are bothered by it... In my coach I use the inverter more than the generator since I do not dry camp and have a residential refrigerator. The inverter keeps it cold when under way.
