Should generator run AC unit Vista Cruiser

I am new to the RV world and forums as well. Any help would be truley appreciated. My wife bought us a 2008 Gulfstream Vista Cruiser. It has an Onin 3.6 KW super quiet generator. Should the generator be wired to operate the airconditioner?Right now the Airconditioner only works when plugged into an external AC power source.

Not sure about that model, but in general the generator is sized to run the AC and other systems. Do your other 110v items run from the generator? Microwave, coffee maker, television? If nothing works, then check your transfer switch. Most today are automatic but some require that the shore power cable be plugged into an outlet connected to the generator.
