Reached 100 hours on our diesel genset Onan 5500 HDKBA,HDKBB.
I preformed an oil,filter and air filter change today.
Oil filter part # 0185-7444 Onan, Air Filter part # 0140-3351.
On our genset there is a valve that you open and drain the old oil via a short hose to your used oil can. To get to the oil filter you should remove the side cover on your genset. I tried for about 15 minutes to remove the oil filter from the bottom side no luck. The filter takes a very small filter wrench. From the bottom I could not make it work. After removing the side panel I had easy access to the oil filter. This also allowed me to check for oil filter for leaks after installing the oil filter and oil. At the same time I replaced the air filter with access fron the side with the side panal removed.
Replacing the side panal was a difficult process. I still have two extra bolts for the top two holes on the side panal. I could not get the two top holes to aline with the side panel holes. Duct Tape!!!
