We had a wicked thunderstorm last night with heavy rain and strong winds. This morning I went to check the MH for water leaks and found water on the edge of my kitchen counter which had run down on the floor. The reason for that leak was a slightly deformed porch light housing caused by the heat of the bulb, which caused the caulking to separate. While working on that problem, the sun came out and got very hot. So I decided to put out the awning. Opened the large compartment where I keep the awning rod to find the compartment with about 1/2 inch water in it. Upon inspection, I found the water dripping from the TOP of the compartment. Well, next to and slighly above the compartment is the Suburban furnace. I removed the intake/exhaust cover to discover water in the exhaust pipe. Removed the furnace cover to find a lot of water in the bottom of the compartment. Also saw a wet cable going from the furnace compartment into the large storege compartment where I keep my awning rod. There is also a furnace duct running through the compartment, which was also dripping.

Conclusion: The wind was driving the rain into the intake/exhaust ports of the furnace, which eventually found its way into the storage compartment.

I guess I'll have to make some sort of cover for the intake/exhaust ports for when the MH is not being used. Must also make a reminder to remove it before use.
