I believe these clips are actually the latches that hold the hatch down securely. At least that is what the latches do on our Tourmaster. Normally the hatch would be helped to open and hold open...

On our American Dream coach this "hole" had a cap that snapped in from the inside, when not being used for waste line to exit. I would assume this should be same on your coach.
