It sounds like it could be a bad ground. Look for corrosion either the wire bundle, or even the battery cable. Just a thought.

For what it's worth (I know this post is getting old), when this happened to us, the GFCI in the bathroom was tripped. Reset GFI, voila, 120V power back in the compartment.

But the 2 legs of 120V are 180 degrees out of phase with each other, which, if used this way (our coaches do not I realize) supplies 240V. A voltmeter across the 2 120V hot legs of a 50 amp RV plug...
