Use a plastic scraper and do it when the sealant is warm from sitting in the sun or maybe use a hair dryer to warm up the sealant. Have you thought of using Eternabond tape?

You can deploy the slide while still plugged into your tow vehicle. You will be using the tow vehicles battery, saving a little more of your campers battery for camping.
