Wet is a problem - to be fair in terms of the padding, many manufacturers don't put any at all - just bolt the pump straight to the floor. I had the opposite reaction - I was surprised to find padding on the pump, and had already noticed that it was substantially quieter than the pump in my last trailer (which was never really a problem for me, just something that I noticed).
