Technically, you should turn off the propane while driving. In case of an accident and if a leak should occur, a fire could result. Also, it is illegal to drive through a tunnel with the valves open on a propane tank. I have a travel trailer with a 1500 watt power inverter, it runs the fridge just fine plus the batteries stay charged while driving.
