Default Fuel gauge works intermittently

2007 BT Cruise model 5291B fuel gauge works erratically. Does anyone know where the electrical connection for this gauge is located at? I'm hoping it's not on top of the fuel tank with the fuel pump.

That's exactly where it is. If you can get to the top of the tank look for loose wires. Try wiggling the wires at the tank and the gauge to look for loose connections.

Yikes! Hope I don't have to drop the tank! I'm too old for this.

Default Another Idea

I just thought of something else. Or another way. Buy one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

from Amazon. I was surprised to see all the parameters that are available through this little thing. There are several apps out there and I have chosen Scanmaster Lite. It plugs in under the dash and can stay there. It uses bluetooth or WiFi to connect to your smart phone. I will be using mine to monitor fuel flow and MPG.

edit; The one above only links WiFi. There are bluetooth units available at Amazon also.

Will this read the mileage? Although the tank is full, the fuel gauge is reading empty with a low fuel warning light.

I will check the next chance I get. How I understand it to work is you input your fuel load and it measures fuel flow and does the calculation. I will see if an odometer reading is avail.

edit: Calculates the remaining fuel.

I brought the RV home from storage today and got the gauge to indicate after turning the ignition on and off. The needle came up to about 3/4, but I know the tank is full.

You tube video says to add Chevron Techtron Plus to the fuel tank to clean the sending unit. Have done this and will take it out on the road this week in hopes that it will clean the slide resister on the fuel sending unit.
