Default Refrigerator issues

Hi Everyone-
We have a 2012 Amerilite 27bh. And this is only our 7th trip so far since we bought it. All trips have been full hook-up service. We embarked on our first dry camp this weekend and used the Dometic two door fridge on propane only. All was great for the first day. Then, the battery went low on the camper (too quick in my opinion. It's the stock battery and probably not the greatest) and the check light went on on the fridge. We checked our propane- both tanks full. Fridge stopped being cool but check light stayed on. Anyone have similar issues? I read the instructions and followed them to a "T" to reset with no luck.

Maybe an igniter issue or a fuse issue? Any ideas are welcome as we have a 5 day dry camp trip coming up on the Cape over the 4th of July and would love to have power and a working fridge!

Thanks so much!

For the refrig to work it requires a good charged battery because it uses battery 12v for the igniter and panel. If voltage goes too low then it will go into default as it did.

If you plan on camping without hookups, then you need more batteries, either two or four 6volt or if you are presently using a 12 volt you will need more than one. A small generator to charge your batteries would be a good investment if you plan on boondocking.

Thanks so much Ron! We are investing in a second battery and a solar charger. Hopefully, that will do the trick.

If you are adding a second battery, for the best performance/life then they must be the same brand/rating.

Here's some good info that you might want to read about batteries: http://www.solar-electric.com/deep-cycl ... y-faq.html

Daughter has a travel trailer about the same length as yours and she invested on a small Yamaha generator for dry camping. She was having same kind of problem you were having. With the generator she can run the air conditioner and everything in the trailer and it is real quite.

The small electric (12 volts) heater element that prevent condensation between the refrigerator and the freezer must be turn off to prevent the discharge of the battery when dry camp. The small switch is located in the superior part of the door.

Thanks eveeryone for your replies! Found out it was definitely a battery issue. Thank goodness for this forum!
