Default water

On my rig when hooked up to a water source I can't fill water tank without
disconnecting and putting hose in fill spout. My question? Where is the
check valve to keep water from coming out water source inlet when pump is on. I have a plan to install a water line and ball valve after the pump to force water into tank via suction line but it would only work if output of
pump is also connected to water source input. Sound confusing? I know it does but it should work provided check valve is on water pressure input.

I would put the "T" with shut off between the pump and tank. A "T" behind the check valve where the hose is connected. You should be able to see the check valve. It is located right where the hose connects. Not knowing how your rig is configured. I would put the shut off where it is easy to get to.
