As I write this I'm on my way this evening to Elkhart to Master Tech to have a list of things mostly quality control issues fixed along with the additon of a roof air to boost the basement. It seems that they discovered they has air flow problems after my coach went off the line and now they are going to modify my duct to install the booster. I'm also having Master Tech put diamond shield on the front and replacing recliner with a loveseat.

Mark,

Welcome to Gulf Stream Owners RV Forum !!

The Tour Master is a great coach. I looked at them at the last GS rally. The wife pulled me away shaking her head. If I were to buy today it would be a Tour Master without a doubt. Maybe in the future.

the tour master i am looking at has two roof airs, none in the basement. a sales guy told me that they were ordering all of their gs with an additional roof air to help the basement air cause basement air alone is not enough.

below is a link to unit i am thinking of buying..

http://motorhomespecialist.rvusa.com/in ... ?id=307038

ps where is a good place to get insurance for a gs? any other things or suggestions i need to be aware of? what would be a good discount off msrp?

Sweet. In order to protect you from all the headaches of new RV ownership I am willing to break it in for you, just let me take the coach for a year or two and I'll have all the bugs worked out!

Default TourMaster

Mark Brown, that is a good looking coach. I don't think you can go wrong with a TourMaster. I looked at one in Las Vegas and it seems like a well made coach. I own the Scenic Cruiser which TourMaster replaced. If it is as good as the Scenic Cruiser, you will love the coach. I have 28k miles on my coach now and it seems to me like the engine runs smoother as it breaks in. The Mercedes engine should be a good one. I have the Cat, but those engines are all pretty good. Good luck with your new coach.

Default Insurance and Discount

You should be able to get 25% discounted off the list price.
I have National Interstate for insurance. They seem to be a good insurance. I got full replacement for the first five years if I total my coach and a depreciating deductable if you don't have an accident within that year. I believe it runs around $1400.00 per year for my coach.

Dave...........
I got a voice male from Lori Kahler (sp?) on Tuesday 9/12 who left the message that after my coach has been at Mastertech since its scheduled start date of August 29th that they can't fix the above referenced air problem due to inadequate support in the roof and no electric wiring availability. I have left messages for her to talk to me for 3 days now and no call back.. I only get voicemail on her extension.

Now I'm frustrated.......Gulfstream advertised that the coach could have boost air as an option, and to be simply plain.... It should have adequate airflow as a standard.

I had the coach at Mastertech in late July in which Lori and Cheryl Hocksteter (sp?) came over and in-person inspected the airflow issues as well as the heat in the coach and it was raining outside at the time...

I would like to have some alternative advice. Mastertech asserts that they can add air to the coach however Gulfstream won't accept the liability nor probably participate in the expense.

While I feel confident that someone from Gulfstream monitors this site I have held my tougue to this point however I'm about a foot away from having my back pushed against the wall.......

Please advise.... because of my profession I currently have 3 attorneys on retainer so going that route will not be a challange for me however, that's not my style. If it comes to that, can you say "Class Action?"

What would you do????

Dave.......

Dave,
I understand your frustration, have been there with the voice mail crap with many other companies.

I have dealt with Lori Kaller ext. 3657 Warranty Dept. when I had a problem with my windshield and she always got back to me right away. She was a great help and got approval for the repair by the dealer. The dealer didn't do it correctly, but that is another story.

What I would do is call 1-800-289-8787 and press "0" for the operator and ask her if she is actually in her office. Maybe illness or something is the reason she has not gotten back to you. Not making excuses for her, just maybe there is a good reason of not returning your calls.

I would also call Bobbie ext. 5304 @ GSC Service and get her opinion of the installation of the ac "boost". You could also ask for Brandon's opinion.
Both helped make sure the repair was done correctly on my windshield at the Back Home Rally.

Hang in there buddy, I am sure it will be resolved, but sometimes the wheels turn slower than we are able to take at times.

Keep us updated, Ron

Welcome to the Gulf Stream Owners RV Forum !!

I believe you should contact your dealer and tell him the results that the coach does not cool any better after installing "his" fix costing you the extra $$$. I would tell them they need to contact Gulf Stream to see how to proceed to correct this.

The dealer should have contacted Gulf Stream before installing the roof air and let them know there was a problem.

After all, common sense would tell them that if the basement airs can't cool the coach down to a set temperature for one of them to shut off, then the roof air will never run if the basement air has priority for the power (electricity).

Where did you buy it?

If it is Dick Gore's RV in Jacksonville, you probably won't get a lot of help from them...

Default Re: Tour Master Question

I love Tourmasters and own a '93. I looked hard at a new one earlier this year, but didn't care for the interior or exterior paint so passed on it. If I had known then about the issues with the air I have seen in this thread, I would never have considered it at all.

Be sure you'll be happy to live with every problem you learn about before you buy, because the one thing certain about owning a motorhome, even a highline one, is that you're going to have plenty of problems, and the ones you know about will be the least of them.

A new coach we recently looked at hard was a GS Friendship G7. That one is going to saty on our list a while, I think!

Will this be your first MH? If so, I would strongly encourage you to buy a used model similar to the new one you like. Often, most of the problems have already been worked out of a used one, and the biggest depreciation has been paid for by someone else. Best of both worlds, if you ask me.
