Default Gulfstream 189DD Dining Benches

Has anyone done anything to firm up the seats at the table? We just bought ours, and find the seats too soft, the foam really "squishes" together. Anyone either firmed it up, or replaced the foam?

I have a 2008 BT Cruiser and my dining seats are sagging too.
I was going to try and attach a 2x4, or 2x3 along the underside with brackets. At least they will not sag.

I ordered a high density foam for the seats, didn't bother with the backs. Much better.

Your cushion covers have zippers. Carefully remove the cover and try to not rip the fabric sleeve around the foam. Measure the 3 dimensions and go shopping.

If need be (likely) buy oversized foam. Without compressing the new foam, mark the cut size with a medium Sharpie. Use an electric carving knife to make your cuts - - don't push the blades, just let them glide through the foam.

Carefully cut the sleeve off the old foam and carefully put it over the new foam. Tape your cuts on the sleeve with thin packing tape, leaving a small opening. Use a shop vac to pull air from this opening. It will compress the foam. Quickly slap another piece of packing tape over the opening and slide the foam into the cover. Let the air back into the foam and use your hands to adjust inside the cover. Zip up and you are done.

Another hint: The fitted sheets from the popular pack N play kids crib make a perfect pet/stain/machine washable cover. (we bought 4 quilted neutral gray). The sheet fits over the seats. For the backs you do a 360 wrap so the the last wrap will end behind the back. The other benefit is the sheets help hold the backs in place when driving.
