Default Engine performance

We have a 2008 B/T Cruiser and we are interested in knowing if anyone has had any experience with after market programmers that can help with gas mileage and down shifting while going over overpasses?
We don't have to much trouble with downshifting but would like to get better gas mileage.
Thanks

I'm VERY happy with https://5startuning.com/. The best $500 I've ever spent on a motorhome.

But what has been your experience in MPG/ improvement? Other improvements? Even w/ 5-star, I have not read of any MPG change of significance????

I'm a conservative driver and typically set the cruise at 62-65MPH and then just relax. My personal (20 year) experience with Class A MH is ~7.5MPG +/-1.5MPG variation caused by topography and wind. That's what it is for me and I'm good with it. The Five Star mapping does appear to have improved my gas mileage by ~0.5-0.75MPG; however, that's within the noise level of normal variation; so, who knows. I'm not aware of any product available that can truthfully promise significant improvement (outside the normal variation) especially for $500.00. I will say with the Five Star unit that our 36' Independence driveability is greatly improved as the transmission is less inclined to hunt and the engine spends much more of the day purring vs. roaring. Good Luck!
