Default Supernova Speed Limiter

On our last outing I was pulled over and figured I was getting a ticket for seat belts, since I occasionally violate the seat belt rule for the kids. When the kind police officer told me I was speeding I asked if the speed limit was 75 he replied: "yes, but because I saw you go around traffic you were going atleast 10mph faster". He didn't want to hear the argument about the speed limiter. The funny thing is my 17 year old co-pilot son had been teasing me all day about being the only one traveling the speed limit and being passed by everyone. I explained the speed limiter function to my son who effectionately gave me the "why?????? would they do that?" face.

Moral of the story is I was going at or below the posted speed limit, the officer watched me change lanes from the #2 to the #1 lane to avoid the merging traffic from an upcoming on ramp, which he felt prooved I was speeding. Now I am stuck with a $240.00 ticket I don't deserve and the court is more than 150 miles from home.

So, I need some help getting my info together for my "Trial by Written Direction". I remember reading several posts here when we first bought our SN6400 a couple of years ago regarding the max speed. Mine tops out at 76 mph period. Does anyone know the thread where this was discussed, or can send me to some International information? I have searched several options but so far I am coming up blank.

Thanks for the help,

Joe

The limit can be changed. Mine has a 3300 rpm limit which with 529 gears is 86 mph. If you have an International dealer close by, I would have them put their diagnostic programmer on your unit and give you a printout showing the rev limiter is set at 75. Since they are adjustable, it will be hard to find any internet help on the issue.

Also, I find that the speedometer is very reliable. I run a GPS all the time when we travel and the speedometer matches the GPS consistently. Sounds like you got a cop that was having a bad day. I don't know if I have ever seen an RV stopped on the road for a citation in my life!

I am guessing it was all about perspective. He saw me switch lanes and come back. It may have looked like I was really moving instead of just trying not to completely lose my momentum.

Regards,

Joe
