Default Swivel vs non-swivel fifth wheel hitch

Sorry for bringing this up on this forum but I didn't know where else to ask this question. I have a Robin Industries 5th wheel hitch for towing my 2005 Yellowstone 34FBR and on occasions the hitch handle willl not release. The instructions indicate there are swivel or non-swivel locking mechanisms on the front of the hitch. Could someone explain what the purpose of the swivel vs non-swivel and if that has any effect on the hitch handle release. Thank you for the help...don

We have a BLW (LI'L Rocker) hitch which is a 4 way like yours and I used to run with it locked in the 2 way swivel but it's harder to unhook at a campsite that has uneven ground so now I run with it in the 4 way swivel mode. It's quite common for the hitch to bind if it isn't sitting level, so you have a better chance of it not binding if you just let it swivel 4 ways.

Thank you very much on this answer. I have asked many dealers along with the maker of the hitch and they could not answer as simply and clearly as you did...don :D
