Default Jacks and Brakes

We have had our motorhome for almost two years. Is anyone aware of any maintance required to keep the jacks and the brakes in good working order?

We were told to put a light oil on the jacks to eliminate the dirt, but need to find out more about the details (type etc).

With the jacks extended, I put some hydraulic fluid (automatic transmission fluid) on a shop rag and wipe the exposed piston surface.
