Default Need Sewer Hookup Ideas

The 2011 camping season in Indiana has ended. However, I am already looking forward to the 2012 season and I am looking for a different way of hooking up my sewer line. None of the original plumbing was changed and I still do not have any holding tanks since my family are seasonal campers.

My sewer line consisted of a park model 25' sewer hose purchased at Menards and fitted with a adapter that screwed onto the trailer and then placed into the ground. ( This hose is not flexible) In addition any standard RV line for travel trailers purchased at Camping World or Walmart will not fit.

I am looking for any ideas that other FEMA Trailer owners are using to hookup their trailer to the campground sewer system.

Thanks in advance.

Hey budster, I just registered here so figured I'd see if you had your issue taken care of yet.
I have a 2006 FEMA trailer in KY. The sewer pipe is standard 4" CPVC pipe, and I got a solvent-weld fitting from a local camping supply place. I'm familiar with Camping World there in Greenwood (been there a few times), and they should have this. I sawed off the threaded end and solvent-welded on the appropriate male sewer connector (it's a straight connector with 4 pins protruding from the sides to quick-connect a standard RV sewer hose. I'm full-time, so for the winter I replaced the flex sewer hose with a solid CPVC pipe, with only a short section of flex sewer hose at the end.
If the standard sewer hose sold at CW or WM doesn't fit, then you've got the wrong connector on the end of your sewer outlet.

I couldn't find a good pic of one, but the functional end of the fitting will look like this one. It won't have the square flange, it will just be a round fitting that will attach to your 4" sewer pipe (more than likely it will require solvent welding, assuming you don't find one that will thread on). Again, any standard RV sewage hose will connect to this fitting.
Hope this was some help!

I went thru this same issue when I bought my FEMA trailer. That picture shows 1/3 of the solution. As the 2nd poster points out, the 4 posts mate up with a flexible sewer hose available at any RV supplier. The square flange with the four corner holes are there because what is pictured is one side of a modular gate valve. You buy the valve with the 4 bolts, one of these "hook up to hose" sides, and for the other side you buy a "glue onto pipe" side, choosing the right size for your trailer's pipe. Very easy, very inexpensive. Glue the pipe side to the pipe, let the glue set, bolt the valve between the two sides, and not only have you converted your trailer to standard RV fittings, but you have a shutoff valve that will help you avoid costly and embarrassing fines when you drive down the road mindlessly dribbling um, toxic waste! I'm not a lawyer, and salespeople often say things to make a sale, but EVERY PLACE I WENT told me that, if you had a sewage source (your toilet), you were required to have a positive shutoff. ie, a valve.
The only real trick is knowing the pipe outside diameter so you buy the right size valve and adapters.
