Default No power to the A/C or Slideouts

Just purchased a 2005 BT Cruiser (Model 5290; 30ft with 2 slides). Everything worked great at the dealers, where the coach was plugged in to shore power. When I got it home, the generator is running fine, but no power to the A/C or Slideouts. Lights work fine. Should the generator be charging the 12V Coach battery for these to work, and should there be only 1 coach battery, or should there be 2 in parallel on this model? (in addition to the battery in the engine compartment). Thanks.

Shore power and generator should produce the same results. A/C works off AC power but your lights and slides should be DC (battery) powered. What about other AC powered things such as a microwave and the regular 110 outlets. If those things don't work then check the generator breaker or your transfer box. If they do work, focus on the DC side. Do you have a disconnect switch? Typically located near the door. Number of batteries isn't necessarily an issue. As long as you get 12 volts, thing should work. More batteries just give you more time allowed between charges. If your mostly at campgrounds with shore power, one is fine. If you spend a got of time boon docking then you might want to add batteries.
Good luck,

Thanks, Dennis, for your reply. I will try the items you suggested and see what happens. I did notice that the battery was only 2/3 charged on the indicator panel, but I had just driven the RV for about 2 hours prior to parking and turning on the generator. Could the battery have been discharged initially, and need more charging time?... I will try the microwave and check the 110V outlets tomorrow. Is the transfer box the same as the converter? If so, I believe it is located behind the breaker/fuse panel near the floor level. The DC Disconnect switch was "on" during the entire trip and while the generator was running. I turned it off after giving up last night on getting the A/C to work. Thanks again---I will try your suggestions on Friday and let you know the results....Really appreciate your input. We're 100% newbies to the RV Motorhome world, so I have a lot to learn. RS

Dennis---thought I would update you on my slideout no-power problem. I had 2 issues, which thanks to your input, I was able to resolve. First, the 12V power switch (located on the inside wall of the entry steps) must be "on" for the A/C to work with the Generator on. Second, the vehicle engine was running when I tried to move the slides---this is a no-no, as there is an automatic cut-off that prevents the slides from operating when the ignition switch is in the "on" position (as it would be with the engine running!). I still need to try the refrigerator, water heater, and furnace to thoroughly shake down all the operational functions of the unit. Will let you know if there is a problem!!>
Thanks again..
