My main tv above the drivers seat goes off when ignition is on.
Why?

The TV is turned off to prevent watching it while driving. So, it is responding normally.

Probably, but I don't know how to do it. My grandchildren watch DVDs on a portable DVD player while we are traveling.

Plug it into another receptacle if you have one in that cabinet. I don't play the TV while traveling, but when I'm building up my air or want to turn the ignition on for some reason, I sometimes want to leave the TV on. Every coach that I have owned, including my existing Tourmaster, would permit you to bypass that safety feature by using another plug.

If I use another receptacle where is that power drawn from when I am driving?

On my Tourmaster the power for the cabinet receptacles comes from either my inverter, generator, or shore power. I have two receptacles in that cabinet. One is wired to shut off when the ignition is turned on and the other is straight through from the power source with the ignition either on or off.

If I use another receptacle then I would need to run the generator while driving.....or buy a convertor for the cigarette lighter to plug into?
Sounds do-able.
Thanks

On my diesel pusher Yellowstone, there is a fuse in the compartment right below the driver that you can pull out and it disables the shutting off of the front TV plug.

What kind of coach?

On ours, a Tour Master, I removed the 110 outlet and sniped the two smaller wires, not the power wires. There are the wires that send the 12v to the outlet to say to pass power or not pass power.

I have a 2006 gulf stream independance. I have an outlet in the left side storage compartment next to the TV that has the TV plugged into for power. I will pull the face plate off and take a look for a couple of wires and hopefully it is set up like your coach.

I would still have to have the generator running to power the TV while driving - Right?

Not if you have an inverter.

It is against the law for your front television to be on while driving. If a highway patrol sees the television on, he can give you a ticket.

If the kids want to see television, they can go watch it in the bedroom. That will be legal.

LOL...Not the same coach as mine Ron, but that would have have been a much easier resolve. Maybe I should have looked for one.
