Default Screen for 8379

I am trying to get a screen for the window over the bed on my Sun Voyager 8379. Does anyone know who Gulfstream used for the windows so I can contact them about a replacement. Or is there a vendor who still has parts for Gulfstream units.

I guess the frame is gone too?

Yes I don't have the frame. That would have been too easy to fix. We bought this unit used and missed the fact that the screen was missing.

Ok, I think I have the same model. Can you post a picture of the window from the outside so I am sure. If it looks the same and I can get the screen out reasonably easy, I will take it out and make a template for you to take to a screen shop. I can do it on plain paper and mail it to you.

Default Yes

That looks just like our window. I see that they got rid of the open shelf over the bed and put a door on it. I just did that to our unit. Thank you for you help.

It will be a couple days. But I will see if I can remove it without too much trouble. I think it probably lifts up and comes out at bottom. BTW I had to pack the seal around the back window with some foam rope. I noticed it when cleaning up a lady bug infestation. How does you rear window (kick out) seal?

Default Screen issue

Well I contacted Pelladent about a screen. They need the serial number and model of the window. Problem is how to remove the valance that seems to be mounted from the top. I did find one screw in the bottom. Will I have to somehow remove the floors of each cabinet to get the the mounting screws. I might try to just remove all the screws holding window frame that I can and see if I can lift the frame out enough to see a label with the info I need. thanks for any help.

Default Got it out

Ok I got it out. It is a little larger than I thought. I also got a new cell phone today so maybe I can get some pictures of the details. The framing is a little strange. I need a piece of paper large enough to trace it but not so stiff I can't fold it up to mail.

UPDATE

Screen is out. Easy. Tracing done. This is going to require a trip to the post office to mail. Maybe Monday. In the meantime I am trying to get the new Moto X4 up and running with my Verizon service. Then I can send you some detiled pictures.

Default Letter sent

I made it to the PO yesterday. The tracing is on it's way. With that and one of the other screens from your coach you should be all set. I was thinking you needed pictures too but I think you're good to go.

Default Screen issue

Well I am not about to remove the bottoms of each overhead cabinet so I can remove the Valance and shade. On the Pellenant site all the replacement parts are to thick. As the original screen was thin bent metal. I guess I will have to come up with another idea. Our old Winnebago had all the parts listed and I could get them. GulfStream believes that no one should be able work on their equipment.

Well I am not going to destroy the cabinets over the bed. I will have to find a different way to get a screen. I will come with something.

Because I can not get the valance and shade which seem to be mounted from the top side . If I knew how to remove the valance from the bottom then I could remove the window frame and get the info that the window people want.

Default I thought

I thought you could take the template that I mailed you and any one of the other screens (right side passenger window in mine) to a screen shop and tell them you "need a screen with this kind of framing that is made to fit this template".

That should do it. the frame of the screen over our couch is the same also. It's not an exclusive shape extruded material just made for Gulf Stream to make screens out of. I'm pretty sure you can find the stuff. Try a couple different shops.

Sorry I never got to thank you for the tracing of the screen. That moved to the back burner as I needed to fix the Chassis AC. Got that done as this is now our home. We are full time RVers.

No Problem. I just removed and re-sealed my bedroom window on the drivers side. I learned something interesting. The inner trim ring never needs to be removed. The screws around the inner ring hold the window in by pinching it with the inner ring. It is a very=simple method. Having read back you thought you would have to remove the cabinets to get to the screws on the inner trim. You don't. The next best advice I can give you is get the correct square bit to fit the window screws. Number 3 (#3) I think but maybe a #2 or #4. I have them all. The screen in your other windows can be removed by opening the window and then moving the screen to the center and pressing it up the bottom will come out.
