Actually, having just been at GS and having just enjoyed a factory tour, now is a poor time to do anything with GS. They are working with a skeleton crew, and are not producing any coaches save the special ordered ones.
I would imagine that having your VIN number is important, as any change in suppliers may equate a change in the components of the same GS models. With several of my coach changes, recalls, and warranty issues, the VIN provided the cut-off line between needing service or not.
