Default Cruise control 2005 bt c 5230

Cruise control on our 2005 e350 had been working, but just won’t set now. Is that an expensive fix? Do I take it to a ford dealer? Thanks for input.

It could be several things, but a quick YouTube search shows a common issue with Ford cruise control not working is a de-activation switch that goes bad that is attached to the brake master cylinder. If you're handy, you can test that switch and change it if it is bad. Or you can talk to any auto mechanic about it. Of course a Ford dealer is an option, but probably not necessary.

Thanks. I will have to have someone check it out. Had the rv out for the weekend, and it worked again on the trip out, but stopped working on the way home.

Watched the videos. I think I can do that myself, but won’t get to it for awhile. I will report back after I attempt it.

Ok. The deactivation switch arrived. It wasn’t too difficult, although mine was located on the absolute bottom of the break cylinder. A little tight, and had to use a wrench that was too long, but it worked. Leaked a bit more fluid than i wanted. Not real quick getting the new one in. Cleaned it thoroughly. Brakes are working fine. Took it on the freeway for a test drive, and the cruise control works like it should now. Once again, thanks to Leisure Time Larry for pointing me in the right direction. Must be the third or fourth time you have done so.
