Watching this thread as I'm curious. I want to verify from your signature,

160hp, 400 lb-ft torque, correct?

May want to know the best RPM to maintain for grade as well since the max hp is at 2500 RPM's and the rated max torque is only at 1600 RPM's. On my 230hp, I think around 2100-2200 RPM's was suggested for me (seemed to put more weight on HP when going up hill) but will have to look at my notes.

Interesting that my 230hp is not even listed in this Cummins Timeline, perhaps this site only lists the engines for the Dodge trucks:

Specs for the gas engine in my 99;
Ford introduced the 6.8L Triton V-10 for the 1999 model year as a replacement for the dated, but well respected 7.5L V-8 (460 CID). Whereas the 7.5L produced up to 245 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque during its service life, the 6.8L V-10 was introduced with 305 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Did Highway 14 in Washington with no problem. Twist turns and up and down hills 70 miles worked great. Then up and down the hill where I live 3.5 miles 30 degrees just fine. Think school bus as that is essentially what is in there.

A 30 degree grade! Tell me more about this. Ascent rate, speed, RPM. And descent, brakes.

30 mph speed limit. Down hill shifted to lower gear had to mildly use brakes on every corner. Not sure of rpm but mh temp went up 20 degrees from 180 to 200 going uphill. 100 degree day. About a 1200 ft climb.

I have a 2010 Yellowstone, 32 foot Super-C, that is a tail dragger, even going in or out of gas stations and parking lots.
