Default Step removal 6400

We just got a 2009 supernova 6400. The generator won't run below half a tank and I was going to check the line in the tank to make sure it was intact. But I can't seem to get the step off to get at the top of the fuel tank. It looks like I may have to undo the saddle straps for it to come off. Thought o would check here before I do something unnecessary. Thanks in advance.

The steps have to be removed to get to the fuel line for the generator. Take the bolts out top step only. Then there is 2 or 3 bolts underneath the motor under the step. Take the fuel cap off then very carefully remove the step without scratching the paint. Let us know if you need anything else.
