Default Coolant reservoir

I have a 1999 Gulfstream Sun Voyager 8362 with Cummins diesel.
Original coolant bottle cracked. I have replaced it with a universal reservoir but the volume is only 70% of OEM part. Does anyone have experience to know if this will work?

I'm guessing you're talking about the coolant expansion tank? A slightly smaller tank shouldn't make too much difference as long as it allows complete expansion of the cooling system. Start with the tank about half full, run the engine to normal operating temperature then fill the tank to near the neck if it doesn't expand and run over. If the engine gets warmer than normal, the tank may overflow slightly. If the cooling system sucks all the coolant out of your tank as the engine goes totally cold, there will be some air trapped in the cooling system. Depending on the amount of air sucked in and the finicky factor of your rig, you may or may not have 'air block' problems which can lead to some overheating.
