Default DeWald levelers (leak) Can I bypass or discnnect

I have a 2003 Gulfstream DP and the rear passenger leveler is leaking. It leaks during retraction as well as when I retract the living room slide. I'm trying to locate either a replacement or a repair but we are traveling in Oregon currently. My thought is in the meantime either bypass the leveler or disconnect the power going to the solenoid. Has anyone attempted either of the options? The dewald system I believe is a power gear and it doesn't have the pushpad .
Thanks
jim,

It sounds like it will continue to leak until fixed. Try everything you can. Your choices sound worth a try.
