Default International Chassis Milage ??

When we purchased our new Conquest Super C last October we were
told we will get 10-12 MPG. I assume this was a stretch since on our first
trip (pulling a car) around California we Averaged 7-9 while keeping the
"econ" mode on and the speed at no more than 55MPH.
Our rear end ratio is the 529 like most. So how are others with the
comparable chassis doing? Thanks for comparing....

I drive 70-75 towing a Jeep Wrangler. I get 6.5-7.5 consistently depending on terrain. I have got as high as 8 during the winter months not using the A/C but that was an anomaly. I would like to get better mileage but like to put in 600-800 mile days. I have tried to slow down but always creep back up to my normal 70-75 so I can put in those long mileage days in a shorter amount of actual driving time.

I use the econ mode 99% of the time but it only helps at low speeds.

Hey Biobug......the best I've gotten with my model 6400 is 8.5 mpg running without the Honda Pilot in tow. With the Honda in tow, I was around 7. My engine is still going through break in (2200 miles on the odo) and I've been told that it should loosen up a bit and get a little better mileage, but I'm not counting on it.

I did do a 100 mile run with it where I was pushing it over 70, and like T.C. stated, there is a corresponding drop in mileage.

It is what it is I guess.....I was told the same thing you were (aka 10 mpg) but I really didn't think it would being as heavy as it is.

Default Mileage on 4200 Endura 34'

I recently took a 1400 mile trip to Utah and back to Tucson. I towed my Wrangler which weighs in at 4200 pounds. The best mileage was 7.93 MPG and that was running around 65 MPH. Going to Utah and struggling to reach 10,000' we reached 7.5 MPG. On occasion our tach reached 3200 RPM but mostly hit 2,300-2,400. I now have over 5,000 miles and don't expect anything better until engine breaks in. This should be around 25,000 to 35,000 if it's like the rest of diesels I've owned.

Just got back from a a ~1200 mile trip to Florida and back running the generator the entire time and pulling a Dodge Durango and avereaged 7.2 mpg. I usually run the speed limit or slightly above and my 6400 has about 6k miles on it at the moment.

Default Getting ready to purchase 6376SN

Is there a computer chip available for this engine? Can you change the rear axle ratio? Just wondering, I did it on my Duramax and got 21 mpg on hiway with extra gas tank, hard tonneau cover & 5th wheel hookup. Not counting my 270 lb. body.

Default Gas mileage

I purchased my 2008 Conquest Ultra C 34' in Feburary 09. Gas with a kodiak chasis. My average is 7.4 MPG without tow. I too was told it would be better gas mileage and I am considering towing but do not know anything about what to look for.

If you have the 8.1L gas version, you're gonna get about 7.5 mpg. That's what my salesman told me before I bought mine and that is, in fact, what I get. Towing a car, it drops to around 7.0 mpg.

The posts above talking in the 10 mpg range are talking about the diesel version.

Default Fuel mileage

Maybe off the topic a bit, but on the new 2008 BT Cruiser 30 foot model 5291 with the E-450 Ford chassis and the 6.0 Diesel, I got an average of 12.86 from Dallas to Melbourne FL running 65 - 68 mph with dash A/C not towing anything.

I was told by several friends who have this engine in their Heavy Duty Ford pickups, that the mileage will get significantly better after about 30k miles.
