Default Towing 06 gulf stream

I was told that these trailers can not be towed long distances because it is a park modal. The axles and wheel where not made for the highway. I know this not true but I would like to know if some one has one or know something about this. I am driving 300 miles away to pick up my trailer and would like to be sure I can tow this thing. Dose any one know what kind of suspension is under the trailer?

I just towed mine about 120 miles without issue, they have 5 lug axles (probably 3500# pounds each) with brakes on both axles, suspention is a basic leaf sprung. I wouldn't hesitate to pull one 300 miles one way at 70 mph. They do weigh 6300 pounds dry, so a bigger truck with Weight distributing hitch helps.

Thanks for the help wvjeepers. Do you know if the hot water heater is gas and electric or just gas.

Your trailer may weigh more, but mine weighs 4660 dry, and 6200 GVWR. Pulled it with my F350. It didn't even know it was back there.

Need to get a good stablizer hitch. I pulled mine about 200 miles with a 2004 Z-71with no problems except the gas mileage. I put a wanted ad in Criags list and got a good hit in about 3 days. Bought a Equal-i-zier hitch in new condition for $200. You can adjust the hitch so your truck sits level. I was playing around with mine and actual had the rear of the truck picked up at one time. When i bought my camper there were guys trying to pull them without a hitch sitting on a bumper, don,t advise unless you have a 3/4 ton or bigger. Makes for a long trip driving 40 mph on the interstate with your bumper dragging the ground. But if you do, get insurance before head out.

I am looking to pull mine about 600 miles as I'm looking to move out of state. I didn't realize that this could be an issue. Has anyone pulled theirs long, long distance? Mine is like the one above. It weighs 4660 dry.

Mine is gas only, but you can get an electric conversion kit that has an electrode that screws into the existing drain hole (remove the drain plug and screw it in). It comes with a switch you can mount inside. Heat a cold tank with gas then switch to electric to keep it hot.
