Default Good Sam's / RV Warranty

Newb needing warranty info. Taking possession of a '00 PalmBreeze tomorrow - Our first RV.

I contacted and received a quote for a yearly(?) warranty - It was VERY expensive for 1 year (nearly $1500) - Now, I realize the coach is 12 years old (only 14K mi. and immac. condition) - And I wouldn't have purchased it if I didn't have an independent RV inspector give it a 4 hour inspection and give me the "thumbs-up" - But I am thinking a 5 yr./100,000 mile warranty for near the same price as Good Sam's 1 year.

Am I just nuts? Do RV owners REALLY pay $1500/year for a warranty?

Where to go to get the best quote / coverage? When I bought my car last year, I found a very similar forum and the members were GREAT help in steering me toward a dealer who sold me the same coverage as others..for hundreds less.

And what does it cost to be a Good Sam's member? What are the benefits of membership?

Anything anyone can pass along would be appreciated.

I guess the price they quoted you is about right because it is a used coach. When I bought my coach new I believe I paid something like $3400. for a seven year warranty. But when it went passed the seven year and I wanted to extend a warranty, they quoted me 3K for two years. So I decided to do without it. I figured that if the engine or transmission was going to blow up, it would do it within the seven years. I will have had my coach now ten years coming up in April and have had no problems with my coach. But I do stay on top of it with proper care on oil changes and lubrication of the chassis. So your qoute sounds about right.

I have a 2005 purchased second hand, the first owner abused it some what and it sat in the Michigan cold weather for at least a year before it was traded in Ohio. My dealer gave me a deal on it with a trade of my fifth wheel and I purchased Gap Insurance and 7 year Bumper to Pumper warenty for $3700. Already paid for itself when my son blew the on board generator when he took it to a concert with his friends running the generator 24 hours times 2.5 day with the outside door closed did it in. However all is good now. I just replaced that pesky aireal with a new Bat wind digital aireal which worked good but then decided to up grade the front television to a flat screen so I went ahead and put a mini staionary dish and dome on the top and hooked it to the Direct TV system with a receiver from the house, works great. I also purchased a 2012 Terrian SLT all wheel drive and had it fitted as a TOAD with that new electronic break system so there is nothing to do after hookup other then pulling a fuse to ensure the miliage does not record. First trial run is this weekend since it is so beautiful here in Ohio we will take a short trip out down to the little farm by the river near the casino and just chill! Need the break since I just got back from South Korea and now getting ready for a conference then it is off to Turkey, Greece, Germany and with a short break back to Korea and Japan. I think I'm getting too old for all this business travel but I promised to keep the Foreign Air Forces's engines flying as long as they need me and it does pay for the gas which the motorhome gulps down. I did notice all the Taxis Buses and trucks in South Korea use LP gas to operate the Taxis keep their tank in the trunk area. Just a thought of maybe it would be cheaper to operate a dual fuel 38 foot motorhome with the primary fuel being LP. There is already a tank just need to increase the size which there seems to be room behind door number 1. Just wonder how much it would cost to have a LP system hooked in and if it is even possible for a 8.1 GM engine?

I would do a lot of research on a conversion to use LPG. I was interested myself and I decided to talk to a RTD driver and he told me that the bus he was driving does not have any power. He said he could barely make some of the hills he had to drive over.
