Default is the RV dealership responsible!

I bought a new 2006 tourmaster T40A in June 2009. According to the service Dept, they have not changed the oil in the engine or generator since buying the coach from another dealer that was not selling Gulf streams anymore.

since freight liner has very strict maintenance guidelines when coaches sit for indefinite periods at dealerships, don't you think that the dealer who sold us the coach in June and neglected to at least have the engine oil and generator oil changed should be responsible to pay for the service now!

When did the dealer purchase the unit? I would expect than when the unit was sold, it should have been serviced.

we bought the coach in june of 2009 it had 1300 miles on it, the dealer said those 1300 miles were the miles driven from the factory in Indiana.

1600 miles is no miles on that oil. I have the Cat engine and it says to change the oil every 16K miles or once a year if it has less miles. But if I was you and it actually has only 1600 mile I would not worry about it. Just check the oil level. But if it makes you feel better change the oil and filter out yourself. It is fairly easy to change the oil and filter on those engines and the genset is even easier. Lately I have being changing mine once a year because I have not gone on any real long trips. I just go to WalMart and buy oil for diesel engines and change it. I don't think the dealer would want to change the oil with just 1600 miles. JMHO

I. change mine once a year because I never reach the mileage requirement. My freight liner dealer in Sal Lake charges 199.00 for the oil filter, gas filters, air filters plus lubes the chassis. I also give him 89.00 to change the oil and filter on the genset. I my book you can't beat either deal.
Coach is never there more than three hrs.
